Our current commitments

« We do not inherit the earth from our fathers, we are borrowing it from our children ».

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

This African proverb cited by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry in his 1939 novel, 'Wind, Sand and Stars', is the premise of the current environmental framework. The future begins today. The preservation of our planet depends on what we do now, a principle that the Tour d'Argent demonstrates by continually implementing new actions.

OUR CURRENT COMMITMENTS

RETURNING TO THE SOURCE

Now, discover the “Zero kilometre” water service. This sparkling or still water is purified thanks to water distributors by our partner AQUACHIARA. Known as “Zero kilometre water”, this solution allows us to eliminate the transportation and packaging of glass and plastic water bottles, minimise our waste, do away with bottle handling and reduce our carbon footprint. With positive impact both for our planet and the well-being of our teams, it plays a role in our commitment to ecological transition.

Our complimentary water is now presented in bespoke crystal flasks. Made in the heart of the Bresle Valley, in the Hauts de France, at the gateway to the Bay of the Somme, in the workshops of Verreries et Cristalleries Waltersperger, glassmakers since 1916, this flask incorporates our iconic honeycomb motif inspired by the Café Anglais carafe. The Waltersperger workshops, with Living Heritage Company status, embody expertise and quality, and are a reference brand in the glass tradition of the Bresle valley.

ILE-DE-FRANCE PRODUCTS

At La Tour d'Argent, we now offer a plateau of cheese made in Seine-et-Marne by our master-cheesemakers, which is mostly organic. This reflects our commitment to promoting local expertise.

The farms that produce these exceptional cheeses are located less than 100 km from our restaurant.

La ferme Sainte-Colombe - 90 km
La ferme de la Chalotterie - 52 km
La Fromentellerie - 69 km

These exceptional products can also be found in our delicatessen, La Petite Epicerie de la Tour.

THE COLLECTION OF BIODEGRADABLE WASTE

Moulinot, a company established by a catering professional, supports specialists in the sector by offering a complete biodegradable waste management service. With them, we launched our zero waste policy. In 6 months, 5,237 kilos of biodegradable waste has been collected from La Tour. 81% of this waste was transformed into electricity or gas, the remaining 19% became vermicompost.

Little by little La Tour is becoming greener.
