The domain
Le Clos des Papes is an iconic estate in the Rhône Valley. This vineyard has belonged to the Avril family for decades. The estate consists of 24 plots with diverse and varied soils and microclimates. Thus, the estate offers a wide range of wine styles.
The wine
This Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Counoise, revealing notes of black cherry, ripe blackcurrant, and spices. The wood, perfectly integrated, thus leaves plenty of room for the terroir and the grape varieties. The years have made the wine exceptional, the tannins are melted and perfectly integrated, and aromas of smoked bacon are clearly identifiable.
