The domain
Located at the foot of the Schlossberg hill, Weinbach (wine stream in German) was built in 1612 by the Capuchin monks. Today managed by Catherine Faller with the help of her sons Eddy and Théo, it has 38 hectares of vineyards spread across the Kaysesberg valley. The estate has been managed biodynamically since 1990 to allow the terroirs to express themselves freely.
The wine
With the Saint-Catherine cuvée, the Weinbach estate offers us a Riesling from the grand cru Schlossberg. Parcel-specific, this cuvée perfectly illustrates the notion of the "mosaic of terroirs" unique to Alsace. Planted on a steep slope facing south, this Riesling offers notes of orange peel and ripe exotic fruits. The tension still present in the wine brings a lot of freshness.
