The estate
The estate's reputation began in 1922 with Baron Philippe de Rothschild. For example, he inaugurated full bottling at the château. In 1973, the 1855 classification was revised, and Château Mouton Rothschild joined the elite ranks of the Médoc's Premiers Grands Crus Classés.
The wine
This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc opens with notes of ripe black fruit and menthol. Aged in new oak barrels, the wine has developed notes of vanilla and cinnamon. After years of ageing in our cellars, the palate is round, the tannins perfectly blended and the aromas evolve towards tertiary aromas with notes of toffee, among others.
