The domain
In 1983, Jean-Michel Gérin chose to distance himself from the family estate to create a domain in his name, still in Ampuis. The 12-hectare estate spans Saint-Joseph, Condrieu, and Côte-Rotie, with some vines planted on beautiful plots such as La Landonne and Les Grandes Places. Jean-Michel Gérin and his wife Monique manage their vineyards with passion and respect for the soil and the environment.
The wine
Champin le Seigneur is a blend of 11 plots of vines about thirty years old, located in the northern part of the appellation with a southeast exposure. Syrah, accompanied by its inseparable small percentage of Viognier, harmonizes to create the highest and purest expression of Côte-Rôtie wine with its black fruits and spices, structured by 22 months of aging in wood.
