    Description

    The domain

In the Middle Ages, Yquem belonged to the crown of England. The Sauvage family will only take charge of it starting in 1593. She has the castle built and establishes the vineyard that we know, becoming its owner in 1711. The marriage of Françoise Joséphine de Sauvage d’Yquem and Count Louis-Amédée de Lur-Saluces will bring the Bordeaux family into the prestigious estate. After Madame's death in 1851, her grandson Romain-Bertrand de Lur-Saluces inherited the Château, which would be classified as the only Premier Cru supérieur in 1855.

    The wine

1996 is distinguished by its richness in residual sugar and its perfect balance. This nectar reveals enchanting aromas of honey, candied fruits, and caramel, with a lush and lingering palate, adorned with refreshing acidity.
