The domain
Created in 1959, the estate currently cultivates 40 hectares of vineyards spread over very different soils, constituting the geological cradle of the greatest Alsatian grape varieties and forming a total of about ten terroirs.
The wine
Le Clos-Saint-Urbain is located on the western part of the Grand Cru Rangen de Thann. The altitude of approximately 400 meters of the vineyard, as well as the proximity to the Vosges mountains, make this terroir one of the coolest in Alsace. The Riesling, from vines about fifty years old, then reveals notes of fresh green fruits such as apple, as well as citrus notes like lemon zest, for example.
