The domain
Three key names: Roger Burgaud, factory worker in the morning and in the fields in the afternoon, who replanted the vines on his lands in Ampuis in 1950. Bernard Burgaud, the founder of the eponymous Domaine in 1980, and Pierre Burgaud taking over the reins of the Domaine from his father in 2020. Owning 5 hectares of vines on fragmented plots around Ampuis, the Domaine chooses not to work on different parcel-specific cuvées but on a single and unique Côte-Rotie dedicated to representing the style of the house and the terroir.
The wine
The Côte-Rôties from the Burgaud estate are exclusively made from Syrah. The structure of the wine and the softness of the tannins offer a journey oscillating between violet and spices, on one of the most successful vintages of the estate and the northern Rhône.
