The domain
The estate was founded in the 18th century in Volnay. In 1947, Hubert de Montille revolutionized the estate by stopping the sale of wines to merchants, and Etienne made his place in the estate alongside his father as early as 1980. Conversion to organic farming and then biodynamic, expansion of the estate throughout Burgundy, and acquisition of the Château de Puligny-Montrachet, Etienne and his sister Alix have elevated their family history and their estate among the legends of Burgundy.
The wine
The premier cru Les Taillepieds gets its name from its steep slope and especially from the small pebbles that trail under the feet of the winemakers. This Pinot Noir is among the finest and most elegant Volnays in the Côte de Beaune. This cuvée opens with notes of red fruits. This wine stands out for its creaminess, silky texture, and immense finesse.
