The domain
Created in 1959, the estate currently cultivates 40 hectares of vines spread across very different soils, constituting the geological cradle of the greatest Alsatian grape varieties and forming a total of about ten terroirs.
The wine
Le Clos-Saint-Urbain is located on the western part of the Grand Cru Rangen de Thann. The altitude of approximately 400 meters of the vineyard as well as the proximity to the Vosges make this terroir one of the coolest in Alsace. The pinot gris then reveals notes of fresh apricot, citrus fruits like lemon zest, as well as subtly floral aromas of jasmine, for example. A few tertiary notes of honey and dried fruits add complexity to the wine.
