The domain
The estate was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in the heart of Ampuis. Marcel Guigal succeeded him starting in 1961, followed by Philippe Guigal. The vineyard is part of those legendary estates of the Rhône Valley. Famous for its Côte-Rôtie parcels such as La Landonne, La Turque, and La Mouline, the estate continues to expand in the Rhône region, offering us Condrieu, Crozes-Hermitage, and Châteauneuf.
The wine
On the Côte Rotie vineyard, you will find the Côte Brune and the Côte Blonde: reflections of the diversity of soils and mesoclimates. For this cuvée, Syrah grapes from both Côte Brune and Côte Blonde are blended. Thus, the resulting wine is balanced and complex. The wine has benefited from years in the cellar and now reveals tertiary notes of smoked bacon and underbrush while retaining brightness and freshness.
