The domain
William Ponsot had the intuition to settle in Côte-d’Or north of Nuits-Saint-Georges in 1872. Settled on mythical terroirs, he is particularly known for his Grand Cru Clos de la Roche. Marie-Rose, the fourth generation, has been overseeing the estate since the beginning of 2017. Supported by Alexandre Abel, she favors a low-intervention viticulture, and her wines faithfully reflect the identity of the soils.
The wine
The Grand Cru Chapelle-Chambertin is renowned for producing wines that are both refined and concentrated, suitable for many years of aging in the cellar. On this appellation, the Ponsot estate offers us an authentic Pinot Noir, with notes of kirsch and wild strawberry. This wine, being particularly suitable for aging, now reveals notes of smoked bacon and black truffle.
