The Vineyard

Château Haut-Bages Libéral is located in Pauillac and covers 30 hectares. Seventy percent of the estate's land is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, with the remaining 30% reserved for Merlot. Owner Claire Villars-Lurton and her team run the estate biodynamically.

The wine

This typical left bank blend: a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, produces a wine with intense black fruit notes such as blackcurrant and plum. Aged for 16 months, 40% of which in new barrels, the wine reveals notes of vanilla and cloves.
