Domaine Mugneret Gibourg: a story of women

The story begins in 1933 when Jeanne Gibourg and André Mugneret created the Domaine Mugneret Gibourg. The couple started with only 3 hectares at a time when being a winegrower is hard and does not generate a lot of revenue. They had a son in 1929, Georges Mugneret, who became an ophthalmologist while developing the family estate in parallel. He expanded it from the north to the south of the côte de Nuits vineyard and then created the Domaine Georges Mugneret.

He had two daughters with his wife Jacqueline, Marie-Christine, and Marie-Andrée, who both graduated in enology and took over the property. Nowadays, the transmission is already assured with the daughter of Marie-Christine, Lucie, and the kids of Marie-Andrée, Fanny, and Marion, who work in the estate and participate in the evolution of this family legacy.

They work in integrated farming, and respect for the environment and terroir is very important for them.

The wines are elegant and show character. Racy and fresh while young, they gain a lot of complexity and finesse after a little aging. They are undoubtedly among the best in terms of quality/price ratio for this prestigious part of Burgundy.
