The estate
It was only in 1929 that Henri Gouges created the estate and started bottling at the property. He was the first to do so. Today, his grandsons remain at the helm and the estate is rich in 1er cru parcels, notably the confidential but very fascinating "La Perrière". The estate is renowned for its consistency and its wines without artifice.
The wine
The parcel comes from a former quarry of monks of the abbey of Cîteaux. It is not chardonnay but pinot blanc, which is quite rare in Burgundy but not in the sub-region of the Côte de nuits. This variety has the advantage of giving us wines full of freshness. 2014 was undoubtedly the vintage of the Indian summer, even for the whites. It will give our wine a superb freshness on aromas of white fruits, a marked acidity and a very good holding in mouth.
Perfect with fatty fish like smoked salmon or even hard cheese like an old Comté.
