The Domaine

It was created by Jules Lafon at the end of the 19th century and gained in hectares after the family bought a few parcels in Montrachet and Volnay. René Lafon, the grandson of Jules, began to bottle in the estate in 1961. The son of René, Dominique Lafon, is famous for his talent of winemaking.

The wine

Champans is located in the north of Santenots, almost below Volnay. The soil is lighter and the ground thicker, and the wines are dense and less tannic than the Santenots, with aromas of dark fruits and nice aging potential, especially in 1991.
